X-49A SpeedHawk Goes to Phase 2

They will be making modifications to the compound helicopter to reduce drag, retractible gear, mast fairings, a supplementary engine for the tail prop, etc., before trying to get it to over 200 kts.

    Matt you need to keep the pressure up on this project. I flew it and now I am in Iraq supporting OIF. This is a critical missing technology to required tactical agility. r/ snake

    Thanks, but I really don't have any influence here:  It's up to the military.

    Truth be told, I see the Piesecki technology an interim step to something like Sikorski's advancing blade concept.
