The Reality of Employment
Paul Krugman notes that while France has a consistently higher unemployment rate than the US,
its employment rate is virtually indistinguishable from that of the US
.
The employment rate for men is used because it is not effected by the fairly large changes in female workforce participation over the past 20 years.
France measures unemployment differently, and IMNSHO a lot more accurately.
