RGE - The US Recession: V or U or W or L-Shaped?

Nouriel Roubini is asking what will be the shape of the US Recession:

• V, recession followed by recovery.
• U recession with a dwell at the bottom.
• W double dip.
• L-Shaped, it just drops and stays there for a very long time, like Japan.

I find this irrelevant. What matters is that everything is going pear shaped right now.
